martial arts belt you can bet your bottom dollar12/16/2006 Have you ever considered studying a martial art? It truly is a great way to get in shape and keep your body and mind healthy. Not only does it offer self-defense benefits, but it also provides you with peace of mind. When I say this I am referring to the confidence aspect. Most individuals need that extra confidence in life. It plain and simply makes them feel safe. Now, let's talk about the classic martial arts belt. I honestly believe it has lost its meaning in today's world. Seeing seven year olds with black belts makes me wonder. There was a time when the martial arts belt actually did have a place. Or maybe it still does, but just not in America. Are you ready to find the solutions you have been searching for? Do you have your black belt in Karate or Tae Kwon Do? Well, if your answer is yes, then congratulations. However, how long did you train to earn this belt? I have seen people achieve the level of black belt within a two year period. That doesn't exactly seem right to me. After studying two martial arts in high school, I came to the conclusion that the martial arts belt doesn't mean much in many dojos, kwoons, and academies. This is sad. Did you know that you could acquire a black belt online? It's true! Pretty much anything you desire can be purchased on the World-Wide-Web. Therefore, how would you ever really know who got which martial arts belt from where. It wasn't until seven years ago that I decided to join a Wing Chun school that had done away with the belt/sash system. Their goal was simply to teach an evolved form of Wing Chun self defense and do it as realistically and efficient as possible. I really liked this. No more garbage with the cliche martial arts belt after a few days. If you are currently studying a martial art, I suggest that you really take a close look at your school. Are they all about cash and the martial arts belt, or are they truly focused on teaching useful self-defense? I hate to say it, but so many practitioners get duped for years, and then have a sad reality check. A martial arts belt, whether it's black, red, purple, does not make you invincible. In fact, it might not even mean you can properly defend yourself. The only true way to find that out is via realistic training and sparring. What may sound ideal in theory, may not really work in reality to start off. The information you just read was pulled from many different resources. You should continue searching for information until you believe you have a firm grasp of the subject. I do want to thank you for visiting and good luck. |
