knee high socks in the second place01/26/2007 When we were at a church service the other day I noticed that the lector was wearing something that drives me crazy. The woman that was lecturing is quite tall with a very nice figure. She had on a purple suit with a very nice blouse. The skirt of the suit was longer; it went down to mid calf and had a slit up the back that went up to the knees. Under the skirt she wore nylon knee high socks. As she walked up the aisle prior to the service you could see the tops of the knee high socks with each step she took. When it came time to read she went up the steps to be by the alter area. Our seating arrangement is in a semicircle around the raised alter platform. Half the congregation could see that she was wearing knee high socks. I'm glad you found my site and I hope this information is exactly what you are looking for. I do not understand when women do this. I can accept that wearing pantyhose or thigh highs can be warm and inconvenient, but if you are not going to finish off a nice outfit by wearing one of these options, why not go bare legged. Bare legs would be better than showing off the tops of knee high socks. My former supervisor would wear longer full skirts with the nylon knee high socks underneath. You would see the tops of the socks when she would cross her legs. This would take away from the look of the very expensive clothing that she was wearing simply stated. Nylon knee high socks are meant to be worn under pants. No matter how long your skirt is there are going to be times through the day that the tops of knee highs are going to show make no bones about it. Regular knee high socks are often worn with shorter skirts by younger women. This is a school girl look that seems to come and go with the different fashion seasons, but this is also a look that does not seem appropriate for women over the age of 35. When women dress in clothing that is meant for young girls it tends to make them appear older and in my eyes, desperate to hang on to their youth first of all. I do wear nylon knee high socks with trousers. The nylon makes your shoes feel more comfortable. There are also a nice variety of trouser socks available. You do need to make sure that the sock complements the color of the pants you are wearing. That is another thing that drives me crazy, blue socks with black pants. Many people are color blind to these two colors. It helps if you can purchase the two colors in different textures to help you tell them apart immediately following. I'm hoping that you found all of this interesting and helpful. The internet is full of helpful tips and tricks and I appreciate you coming and visiting. |
