I got my JVC minidv digital camera for Christmas, and boy was I excited. It was only a few minutes between taking my JVC digital video camera and starting to film everyone and everything happening around me. My mother was, let us say, far from happy with the result. She is what you might call camera shy. She absolutely hates having her picture taken to the point where hate only just begins to describe it. But, when she saw the results of her wise purchase of my JVC digital camcorder – how all of our precious family memories were perfectly preserved for posterity – then even she had to admit that it was a good investment to get me my camera. And once my dad figured out how to convert it to VHS, we could watch all of my JVC digital camcorder recordings on the family tv cuddled up together.

Of course, family movies were not the only things that I taped with my JVC digital camcorder. I recorded all kinds of things. When I first got my JVC digital camcorder, I would simply get together with friends and record whatever we were doing. I had a friend who was taking Karate at the time, and another who had studied Judo, and they would often star as imaginary action heroes, trying their best to save the day from the forces of an imaginary evil that was trying to destroy the world. I even got to act from time to time – usually as the evil villainous mastermind – but my favorite place to be was still behind the JVC digital camcorder. As we grew up, the movies that we made became more elaborate and ambitious. I got a sound boom to hook up to the JVC digital camcorder, and even got lenses to use effects like optical zoom. I think that I might pursue my passion for film in college, but for now I will just enjoy making the movies under certain circumstances.
