What a time that was for Detroit fans. You would walk down the street, and feel a sense of camaraderie with anyone in the same kind of basketball jersey as you were. Pistons basketball jerseys were literally all over the motor city, and in school you were really considered uncool unless you were sporting one. I know that that might seem kind of silly and conformist to you, but really, it is tough being a Detroiter. It is a city that has gone through some hard times, and that gets trashed in the media all of the time. The basketball jersey not only expressed faith in the Pistons, but also faith in Detroit. Wearing a hometown basketball jersey showed that you had a sense of civic pride in Detroit, despite all of its failings. That was important to many of us, and it still is.
