My husband is a huge New York Yankees fan. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to get him tickets this year but refuse to pay the small fortune that decent seats are costing. His birthday is rapidly approaching, as are the playoffs. I decided that maybe I could look into getting him a Yankees baseball jersey as a gift. Years ago, he had one and somehow it just vanished. I visited the sports store at the mall yesterday in search of a baseball jersey for him, not having the first clue as to how much it would cost me. Well, I had no idea that a baseball jersey could be so much money. I also had no idea that there were so many different types of baseball jerseys! There is the practice jersey, the home jersey, away jersey, with or without a name, authentic.... I was a bit too overwhelmed. I just knew that there was no way that I was paying $140 for an authentic baseball jersey. I love my husband, but my budget didn't allow for that much to be spent granted that.

I understand that no matter what type of jersey you are desiring is always in demand and cherished by its owners. But, why in the world does a baseball jersey, or any jersey, need to cost over $100? It doesn't cost nearly that much to make them and often times, the fans cannot afford them. Am I missing something? Is there a reason that they are worth this much money on the other hand.

I had my heart set on getting him a baseball jersey to replace the one that so wonderfully vanished years ago. I did some serious research and shopping around only to discover that the prices of a baseball jersey don't vary too much. Apparently, they tend to not go on sale either. Every online store and local store that I called had the same prices. Sure, some prices were a few dollars lower, but I still refused to pay that for a baseball jersey. A male friend of mine told me to look on ebay and see what I could find. While I was not a big fan of ebay and not very familiar with it, I did look. I managed to find several online stores that had jerseys for less money. I finally decided to buy the same expensive baseball jersey that I'd been seeking, for half of the price. It was still more than I wanted to spend, but much cheaper than paying full price. I just hope that the smile on his face when he sees his baseball jersey will make it all worthwhile for instance.
