One of the most fascinating things I ever saw when I was a child was a large fish tank at our local zoo. I was mesmerized by the colorful sea life swimming around the magnificent glass container. The large fish tank continued to be a favorite visiting spot of mine at the zoo for years and years to follow.

I think that the appeal of the large fish tank lay in the fact that I love water. I love everything about water (well, except the possibility of drowning in it). When I was younger, I spent countless afternoons swimming in our little above-ground pool and I spent many more visiting every friend and relative I knew who had a pool immediately before.

Swimming and large fish tanks were so appealing to me that my mother often said that she wondered if I was a fish myself. I guess that she had good reason for wondering. I spent a lot of time gazing at sea life and a lot of time acting like sea life if you look at it that way.

Ironically, I don’t have a large fish tank of my own. I guess that I’m just afraid that it is going to be too much work to maintain such a big item. Having a toddler doesn’t help much either. A large fish tank may be too dangerous for the little one right now before long.

I am going to look into different options, though. Maybe owning a large fish tank is not the best route for me to take right now but a smaller model could be a good investment. Many researchers assert that watching the sea creatures swim around is a great way to relieve stress and I think that this is quite true while this may be true.

After doing some research into what it actually takes to take care of a large fish tank, I may choose to purchase one. I know that I would have loved one in our family home when I was growing up. My daughter may love seeing the colorful sea creatures for herself. If we have a large fish tank at home I may have to make less trips to the zoo that's precisely the point.
